Come join the exciting world of historical storytelling and science fun! The Corpus Christi Museum of Science & History is always seeking willing volunteers for any of the positions below.
Science Center Helper: The brand new Science Center is now open! We need your help encouraging families to engage with all the new exhibits and help maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
Admissions: Create a sparkling, lasting first impression for our visitors by engaging them at the front desk! Here you will complete admissions transactions, provide maps and general museum information, share information about our upcoming events and offer friendly smiles.
Office Assistant: From simply organizing data to brainstorming with our number of departments, our assistants contribute to the smooth operation of our ever busy team.
Maintenance: With over 100 annual events the museum always needs support with an array of tasks in our maintenance department. We do set-ups and breakdowns, decorating, exhibit construction and install and so much more.
Museum Live!: Museum Live! is a special, first person interpretation performance in different vignettes throughout the Museum. What that really means: Our actors perform characters that take you back in time at different performances spaces in the Museum. You may portray a swashbuckling sailor from 1554 in our Shipwreck exhibit or take our guests back to how shopping was done in the late 1800’s as the proprietor in our General Store. Want to play a role not already written for our troupe? Try your hand at writing your own script and developing a new characters!
Museum Tours: Our institution has a wealth of artifacts, objects, information and stories within its walls. It can sometimes be a lot to navigate! Help our guests find fun facts and secrets with guided group or individual tours. Don’t forget to show them your favorite piece or exhibit!
Daily Discoveries: Help engage museum visitors after school with our hands-on discovery carts. Daily discoveries offer a more detailed look at a variety of science and history themes that are made possible by you the volunteer.
Family Events: Be a part of our special events designed to engage families that visit the museum. Family events include our monthly Family Fun Day and other special events throughout the year.
Camps: Assist summer camp counselors during our spring and summer camps that cover science and history topics and serve children ages 5-12.
Program Preparation: There’s always something going on in the education department! Help our education staff prepare for any upcoming programs or events by donating your time.
Science Show: We perform educational science shows with experiments that bubble, burst and blow your mind! Lead or assist in this awesome Mad Scientist’s Laboratory.
Focus Program Helper: Every day during the school year the museum sees hundreds of students. Help our educators deliver programs to these kids who get to come here for a field trip!
Cataloger/Researcher: Building a digital database of the museum’s collection allows greater use of the collection by researchers and museum staff. Examining objects and entering them into this computer database is very detail oriented and requires fine motor skills and computer knowledge.
Photo Digitization: The museum is home to hundreds of thousands of paper documents and photographs. Scanning these photographs creates digital records that will outlast the paper they’re printed on, making them available for generations to come. This work is very detail oriented and requires fine motor skills and computer knowledge.
