Summer Programs
Summer Programming
The museum’s collections, curatorial services, and education teams have joined forces to design programs that explore the wonder of science (and history) that’s around us every day. Weekly program themes include:
- Archaeology. Dig into hands-on learning about Texas’s archaeological and historical sites. From excavating our own artifacts to making “pinch pottery” jars, there is so much waiting for you to unearth!
- Backyard Science. Calling all budding scientists! Join us to dig into activities that will knock your stalks off, such as nature journals, building your own bug, a bird beak buffet game, and more.
- Chemistry. Lab results are in: You’re going to be in your element. We’ll be bonding over our love of science with volcanoes, Strawberry DNA, and other Au-some experiments.
- Dissection. Hop on down to the museum for a toad-ally ribbiting time dissecting and learning about the anatomy of a frog with our educators! You won’t want to miss this un-frog-etable experience.
- Engineering. Get into gear and join us for electrifying activities such as working with circuits and robotics kits. Let’s build our engineering knowledge together!
- Global Soundscapes (Sound Ecology). Do you hear that? Join us as we listen in on the sounds that shape our world. Lend us your ears as we collect data on a “sound walk”, guess animal communications, and more!
- Robotics. Get in gear and take a byte as we build robots, learn about circuits, and discuss how robots are involved in our everyday life! It’s going to be a day you won’t circ-et!
- Space. Blast off into a universe of discovery and explore the wonders of outer space with hands-on learning and exciting space-themed projects!
- Texas History. They say everything’s bigger in Texas, including the fun activities we have to offer, such as leather branding, cartography, pictographs, and more! So come on down and join us for this Texa-llent program!
