The Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History invites science enthusiasts to embark on an exciting journey of discovery during a week filled with backyard science exploration. 

Kicking off on March 9th, this week-long event promises a plethora of activities designed to ignite curiosity and inspire a love for the natural world. From Monday, March 11th onwards, each day will be dedicated to uncovering the myriad wonders that can be found right in your own backyard. 

Visitors can look forward to a variety of engaging activities, including special guest appearances, discovery carts, captivating science shows, and interactive experiences with Museum Live! From learning about local ecosystems to studying bones, each day will offer a unique opportunity to learn, discover, and explore. 

Guests are encouraged to beat the line and pre-purchase tickets online today. The cost of entry is General Admission for non-Members. Museum Members and children under 3 years old are FREE.

Backyard Science Themes:

Bones

Bone-jour! Come join us at the Museum of Science and History for a Spine-Tingling Spring Break! We’ll be kicking off our first themed day with BONES on Monday, March 11th. We’ll be dissecting Owl Pellets, doing Science Shows, live demos, Discovery Carts, Museum LIVE, Crafts, and having our Mammoth Bones on Display (plus a femur surprises). So come down and become a bone-a-fide expert!

Bugs

To bee or not to bee at the museum, there is no question! Come pollen love with bugs at the Museum of Science and History on Tuesday, March 12th, on our second day of Backyard Science, BUGS! Come bee apart of the hive as we have insects on display from collections, our volunteer Entomologist extraordinaire- Ash on site, our fan favorite Build your Own Bug Cart, crafts, Museum LIVE, Science Shows, demos, and so much more for the whole family! You beetle make your way down to the museum! You mite just love it!

Water

Water you doing this spring break? Well, come make a splash at the Museum of Science and History! We’ll be diving into our third themed day, WATER on Wednesday, March 13th. We’ll be doing a special Water related Science Show, Things in jars LIVE with Pheobe, Snapology, have CC Water and the Port Learning Labs, crafting water molecules, and so much more. We’re shore you’ll love it! Sea you there!

Garden

It’s thyme to celery-brate Spring Break at the Science and History Museum! We’ll be planting the seeds of knowledge in our community by digging into our second to last themed day on Thursday, March 14th, with GARDEN! We’ll be nurturing some garden related activities like Science Shows, Foraging classes, demos, museum LIVE, and so many more backyard related activities! You better be-leaf it’s going to be a great time! We’ll seed you there!

Birds

Flock to the museum with you and your gaggle this Spring Break so we can soar to new heights together as we learn more about backyard science on our final themed day, BIRDS! Take a beak on Friday, March 15th, at our Bird Courtship discovery cart, the Bird Beak Booth with West Oso Wetlands Preserve, Study Skin Demos, Science Shows, Birdcams, Museum LIVE, and intros into birdwatching. Migrate to the museum this spring break, you won’t egret it! You’ll never want to crow away!
