Collecting Corpus Christi

Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History is thrilled to announce Allan Hayes as the distinguished speaker for our upcoming lecture series event. Allan, a retired civil engineer, and Corpus Christi resident since 1975, will chat about his passion for history, particularly through his extensive collection of Corpus Christi memorabilia.

About Allan Hayes:

Allan Hayes is a retired civil engineer who has lived in Corpus Christi since 1975. He spends his free time enjoying a wide variety of hobbies, but history and genealogy are two of his greatest passions. He and his wife share an interest in antiques. Sometime in the mid-80s he began acquiring old Corpus Christi postcards, and shortly afterward expanded his collecting to include other souvenir items and memorabilia from the city and surrounding area.

Presentation Summary:

Allan’s presentation will be an overview of the things he collects. These Corpus Christi-related items cover a wide-variety of materials. His favorite pieces are souvenir glass, china, and porcelain items. These are keepsakes people of yesteryear collected to help them remember the locations they lived, worked, and sought recreation and the landmarks associated with those places. Allan will reflect on the history and memories associated with these treasures!
