Field Trip: Each week of camp will include a field trip to Hurricane Alley Waterpark and a second possible field trip to a location that coincides with that week’s theme.
Weekly Camp Themes
Space: Take a voyage through the universe with the museum as we investigate the universe beyond us and find the answer to what’s really out there?!?
Biology: What is life? How do we study living things? Biology has the answer. During biology week explore the living world all around us, interact with live animals, and do an experiment or two – including a dissection.
Cooking Up Chemistry: Don’t forget your lab coat and your chef’s hat to cook up some chemistry! Mix acids and bases, explore mass, density, compounds and chemicals. Will it make a tasty treat or cause a kitchen disaster?
CSI: There’s been a crime at the museum! Help crack the case by collecting evidence, learn fingerprinting and hand writing analysis, chromatography and more!
Engineering: Become a junior engineer and imagine, innovate and create. Gear up for fun and learn how the world works, from building blocks to building bridges!
Jurassic Journey: Learn about the giant reptiles that used to roam the Earth. Become a paleontologist and participate in an awesome excavation and reveal the secrets that fossils hide.
Robotics I: Wouldn’t it be cool to create and train your own robot to follow your commands, maybe even clean your room? Use LEGO Mindstorms to program your own bot.
Robotics II: Please note that Robotics II is a continuation of Robotics I. It is strongly recommended that students attend robotics I prior to Robotics II. For further questions on robotics II prerequisite knowledge, please call 361-826-4667.
Explorers: What was it like to be an explorer a long time ago? What kind of supplies did they need? How did they travel? Do undiscovered lands still await the modern-day explorer? Come make some exciting discoveries of your own!
Ballistics: Launch rockets, sling catapults, design and blast your own air cannon, race jet propulsion cars and more explosive fun!
Mad Science: Exploding, smoking, bubbling science! Become a mad scientist using electricity, chemistry and all the stuff you can’t play with at home. Don’t worry mom, it’s super safe. . . or is it?
